Today, at 18:00 the application submission period for the position of Armenia`s judge at the ECHR ended. The press secretary of the Ministry of Justice Tsovinar Khachatryan informed Iravaban.net that 11 candidates have applied for this position.
The competition of Armenia`s Judge position at the ECHR was launched on September 3, and prior to that, on August 2 RA President Serzh Sargsyan signed a decree establishing a Competition Committee. Competition consist of 2 stages, the first of which is the Checking of the completeness and correspondence of documents, and the second one is the stage of interviews.
“Next Monday the Competition Committee will hold a session, and afterwards The Minister of Justice will publish the names”, said Tsovinar Khachatryan.
The Competition Committee of selection of Armenia`s judge consists of: Constitutional Court President (by agreement), Court of Cassation President (by agreement), Armenia`s judge at the ECHR (by agreement). Human Rights Defender (by agreement), RA Minister of Justice, RA Government`s Plenipotentiary representative at the European Court of Human Rights, President of the RA Advocates` Chamber (by agreement), Rector of the Academy of Justice (by agreement), President of the “RA Judge Union” NGO.
