It is terrible to imagine what fate awaits him: Margarita Simonyan

Margarita Simonyan, editor-in-chief of the “Россия сегодня” (Russia Today) media group and RT TV channel, referred to the arrest of Ruben Vardanyan.

“Today Ruben Vardanyan was arrested in Karabakh, he is already in Baku. It is scary to imagine what fate awaits him. And he, a world-class billionaire, the employer of George Clooney and everyone else, did it voluntarily.

First he sent his son to Karabakh, in the midst of a hot war. Son raised in London.

Then he went on his own. He renounced everything, including citizenship, and left.

Obviously, after decades of earning unimaginable capital, influential foreign friends, standing ovations at festivals, there were no interests left in his life except the national interests of his people.

In these days, when everything was already clear, whoever called Ruben begging him to come back, offering help. He said: ‘I will be where my people are.’ And he stayed.

This choice evokes a wide range of emotions. Personally, what confuses me most is the renunciation of citizenship. But still in first place among these emotions is respect for remarkable personal courage.” Simonyan noted in her Telegram channel.
