Suren Papikyan received the Newly Appointed Commander of the Russian Peacekeeping Forces

On 14 September, RA Defense Minister Suren Papikyan received the Commander-in-Chief of the Russian Ground Forces, Army General Oleg Salyukov, and the newly appointed Commander of the Russian Federation Peacekeeping Forces in Nagorno-Karabakh, Major General Kirill Kulakov.

The Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia congratulated Major General Kulakov on assuming the new position and wished him success during the peacekeeping mission.

The meeting discussed the operational situation on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border and in Nagorno Karabakh, the area of ​​responsibility of the peacekeeping troops, the existing problems, and a number of issues aimed at increasing the effectiveness of the Russian peacekeeping mission in Nagorno Karabakh.

Minister Papikyan emphasized that in 2020 the need for the stable implementation of all the points of the Trilateral Statement of 9 November and to emphasize the implementation of efforts aimed at the quick unblocking of the Lachine Corridor.

The Minister of Defense presented data on the movements and accumulations of Azerbaijani armed forces along the borders, regularly carried out provocations, shooting at Armenian positions, and parallel to this, the frequent dissemination of misinformation.
