Russian President Vladimir Putin spoke by phone with his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron, paying special attention to the situation at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, the Kremlin press service reported. RIA Novosti informed.

The Russian leader informed about the measures taken by specialists to ensure the physical protection of the power plant. At the same time, he pointed to the constant shelling in this zone by the Ukrainian military and stressed the need to put pressure on the Kyiv authorities.

Putin also drew Macron’s attention to the fact that Ukraine is purposefully shelling civilian infrastructure of Donbass with the help of Western weapons, because of which the civilian population suffers.

Regarding the food deal, the two leaders agreed that grain from the Black Sea ports should first of all be sent to developing countries. Vladimir Putin stressed that the European Commission should not create obstacles for the supply of Russian agricultural products and fertilizers to the countries of Africa, the Middle East and Latin America.

The heads of state agreed to continue the dialogue on the issues raised at various levels, including ministerial.
