The number of refugees from Ukraine may reach more than 7 million. European Commissioner for Crisis Management Janez Lenarčič stated this at a press conference in Brussels on Sunday, TASS reports.
“Currently, the number of displaced Ukrainians is expected to reach more than 7 million,” he said.
The European Commissioner added that if the situation continues, they will urgently need humanitarian assistance. He clarified that the European Commission (EC) has already raised significant funds to help refugees․ “The Commission has already mobilized 90 million euros for humanitarian aid.”
It should be reminded that on 24 February, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a special military operation in Ukraine in response to a request for help from the leaders of the Donbas republics.
He stressed that Moscow’s plans do not include the occupation of Ukrainian territories.
