The Verkhovna Rada declared martial law in Ukraine

335 deputies of the Verkhovna Rada voted in favor of imposing martial law in Ukraine, UATV channel reports.

According to the Channel, “the deputies stay in Kiev and continue their work.” “We all stick to our work.”.

Martial law is a special regime of the country, which is introduced in case of threat to national security, territorial integrity or military aggression. For the period of martial law, the state and local authorities, military commands receive additional powers to stabilize the situation as soon as possible. At the same time, many citizens’ rights and freedoms may be restricted.

It should be reminded that in the early morning of February 24, Russian President  Vladimir Putin delivered a statement announcing the decision to launch a special military operation in Donbas.

“Circumstances require us to take decisive and immediate action. The Donbass People’s Republics have appealed to Russia. I have decided to launch a special military operation in this regard,” Putin said in a televised address to Russian citizens.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported that from 05:00 (07:00 Yerevan time) on Thursday, the Russian Armed Forces carried out intensive attacks on Ukrainian military facilities and airports.
