The law enforcement bodies of Artsakh have the necessary evidence to identify the person who killed Aram Tepnants in Martakert։ Prosecutor’s Office of the Artsakh Republic

As the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Artsakh Republic had informed, on 9 October, 2021, at around 1:20 pm, a resident of Martakert was wounded in the chest and died on the spot from a shot fired from an Azerbaijani position about a kilometer away while working with agricultural machinery on the arable land in the administrative territory of Martakert city community, Aram Aleksey Tepnants, born in 1966, a resident of Martakert.

The Prosecutor’s Office of the Artsakh Republic informs about this.

The investigator of the Investigative Committee of the Artsakh Republic has initiated a criminal case on the incident on the grounds of a crime under Article 103, Part 2, Clause 14 of the Criminal Code of the Artsakh Republic (murder committed on the grounds of national, racial or religious hatred or religious fanaticism). Expert examinations have been appointed, other urgent investigative and judicial actions are being carried out. The pre-trial body has the evidence that is sufficient to identify the perpetrator of the crime.

The Azerbaijani side has not yet issued an official statement on the initiation of a criminal case.

The law enforcement bodies of the Artsakh Republic are ready to present to the Russian peacekeeping forces the evidence proving the criminal encroachment on a citizen of Artsakh by the Azerbaijani armed forces.

Azerbaijan, a member of the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms, has committed itself to respecting the right to life. By not fulfilling its obligations under the Convention, the Azerbaijani side once again allows itself to conclude (the Armenians of Artsakh have long been convinced of this) that such criminal acts are organized and directed and completely cease to be mere acts against humanity, by having a terrorist nature and purpose.

It should be reminded that on 9 October, the Artsakh Police issued a statement stating that Aram Tepnants (born in 1966), a resident of Martakert, was fatally wounded by a sniper in the pomegranate orchard near the city of Martakert.
