The Secretary of the NA “Armenia” Faction Artsvik Minasyan announced that the faction will not participate in the voting for the election of the member of the Corruption Prevention Commission.

“It is of fundamental importance what are the anti-corruption elements of the fight against corruption, which should contribute to the effective fight against corruption. Of course, as the international experience shows, in its central place is the opposition, which must be able to restrain, to achieve that those in power can be free from corruption,” he said.

According to the MP, one of the central, principled issues of anti-corruption policy is the role of the opposition.

“However, the model that has been adopted now has completely nullified the role of the opposition. Where is the opposition here? Where should it be? How should the parliament be able to receive objective information when there is no word from the opposition?” the opposition MP said.

It should be noted that Mariam Galstyan was nominated for the vacant position of a member of the Corruption Prevention Commission based on the decision of the Competition Board.

In addition, she currently holds the position of Head of the Anti-Corruption Policy Development and Monitoring Department of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia.
