In order to ensure the safety of citizens’ movement, vehicles and cargo transportation on the Goris-Davit Bek road, border guards of the Armenian and Russian border services have been deployed on the highway. According to the information of the Public Relations Department of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia, an agreement was reached between the Russian and Armenian Defense Ministers to ensure the security control of the above-mentioned roads by the Russian border guards.
“In response to the inquiries of the media representatives, we consider it necessary to remind that on 19 December, 2020, the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia issued a statement, in which it was particularly mentioned.
«1․ According to the agreement reached, Russian border guards are deployed on the Goris-David Bek road section due to ensure uninterrupted traffic.
2․ The security of the 21 km long section of the Goris-Kapan highway, which passes through the disputed area, will be ensured by the Russian border guards..
3․ On one side of the line of contact, the RA border troops will be deployed on the Armenian side, and the Azerbaijani border troops on the Azerbaijani side.
Necessary complex measures will be taken to ensure the safety of the mentioned road section.”
Thus, within the framework of the above-mentioned complex measures, in order to ensure the safety of citizens’ movement, vehicles and cargo transportation, the border services of Armenia and Russia were deployed on the road section. An agreement has been reached between the Russian and Armenian Defense Ministers to ensure the security control of the above-mentioned roads by the Russian border guards.” the statement reads.
