The Russian and Turkish Foreign Ministers have discussed the situation in Nagorno Karabakh over the phone, the Turkish Foreign Ministry spokesman said.
The previous telephone conversation between the two ministries on Karabakh took place on 27 September. According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, Lavrov and Cavusoglu exchanged views on the situation in Nagorno Karabakh and stressed the need for an immediate ceasefire on the line of contact.
However, today, on 1 October, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan criticized the activities of the OSCE Minsk Group on the Karabakh issue. He called inadmissible the calls for a ceasefire in the region. The Russian Foreign Ministry again called on Turkey not to interfere in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, which was followed by this phone call.
