Cybercriminals try to exploit Concerns over People infected with Coronavirus and carry out Phishing Attacks

The World Health Organization reports that cybercriminals are trying to exploit the concerns of people infected with coronavirus and are launching phishing attacks on behalf of the “World Health Organization” (WHO). The Personal Data Protection Agency reports.

“Although there is no case of coronavirus infection in Armenia and no such cyberattacks have been reported, nevertheless, be alert when receiving e-mails or messages about coronavirus. When receiving such:

  • check the sender’s address,
  • don’t click on the links and attachments in the message,
  • do not provide your data (username, password) to those with suspicious messages.

Cybercriminals take advantage of the distress and steal sensitive data from people. If strangers or personal addresses require your personal information, approach such emails with suspicion.

The agency recommends following only the official reports.
