New Details about the Murder Case of a 49-Year-Old Woman in Vanadzor

The preliminary investigation on the murder case of Lori resident Natalia Sergeyevna is completed in Lori Regional Investigation Department of the RA Investigative Committee.

On 25 December 2014 at 12:10, the ambulance crew found the body of N. Sergeyevna (DoB 1965) in the yard of 2 B Tamantsineri str. in Vanadzor with numerous thorn wounds in the area of head.

The preliminary investigation conducted in Lori Regional Investigation Department revealed the identity of the person apparently committed the murder, as well as the circumstances of the murder. Specifically the preliminary investigation found that a 64-year-old resident of Vanadzor city, established close relations with his neighbor Natalia Sergeyevna. They became drinking companions and used to drink together. Later they actually got married and lived together. According to the preliminary investigation the man lost his sight in the youth. His other senses gradually developed over the years, and he learned to move freely without a cane and communicate with the public.

The preliminary investigation obtained enough data showing that during the joint life the man often beat the wife when he was drunk. Late in the evening of 24 December 2014after an ordinary drunk party the man quarreled with Natalia, and on the night of 25 December in the period of 01:00 till 03:00, hit Natalia in the head with blunt, hard object, killed her, then holding her under arms drag the body into the yard and left there. After doing this the man went to his house.

As a result of combination of the facts obtained during the pre-trial proceeding, the 64-year-old man was charged under the Article 104, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code.

The criminal case with the indictment was sent to the Prosecutor’s office of Lori Marz. The accusation was confirmed by the prosecutor in charge for supervising the legality of indictment and the case was sent to the Court of General Jurisdiction of Lori marz.

Note: The suspect or the accused of the alleged offense is deemed innocent unless his or her innocence is proved by virtue of the effective court verdict in the manner prescribed by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia.
