President Serzh Sargsyan today visited Yerevan Panos Terlemezian State College of Arts and took part in jubilee events dedicated to the 150th birthday of the famous painter.
After touring the college, the Armenian President attended the opening of an exhibition displaying works of the college painters which was devoted to the 150th birthday of Panos Terlemezian.
Among the jubilee events there took place a stamp cancellation ceremony. HayPost CJSC has designed and has printed two types of stamps themed “Art: the 150th Birthday of Panos Terlemezian” which are being put into circulation today. The stamps portray Panos Terlemezian’s self-portrait which was painted in 1930, and the canvas painting “Mount Sipan from the island of Ktuts” (1915).
At the State College of Arts there also took place the presentation of the commemorative coin “Panos Terlemezian-150” which has been issued by the RA Central Bank. The obverse of the coin portrays an episode from Panos Terlemezian’s canvas painting “Lake Van and Mount Sipan from the island of Ktuts,” and the reverse of the coin displays episodes from his “The Life of Tatev” and one of his self-portraits.
On the occasion of Panos Terlemezian’s 150th birthday, at the request of the government the “Terlemezians” scrapbook album has been published whose presentation too was attended by the Armenian President at the college bearing the painter’s name. The book which consists of two parts introduces us to biographical data and works of the former and current artists who have lectured at the college both during the Soviet era and since Armenia’s independence.
