Three people were arrested in the case of the suicide of soldier Albert Safaryan, which is considered in the procedure of the General Military Investigation Department of the RA Investigative Committee. Information is provided from the RA Investigative Committee.
The source mentioned that the company chief, Sergeant Arayik Sukiasyan, soldier Gevorg Ghazaryan and junior sergeant Mihran Hovakimyan were arrested.
The conscripts are suspected for committing crimes under Article 359, Part 1 and Part 2 and Article 359, paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code (Breach of relations, prescribed by field manuals, between servicemen not subordinated to each other, expressed in humiliation of the person’s honor and self-esteem, persecution or violence by a group of persons) and the company chief was charged for the crime provided under Article 358.1, Part 2 (assault or other violent actions against subordinate carrying out military service duties).
As it was reported earlier, on 27.02.2015, at 20:40, according the preliminary information, at the military positions of Unit N, the soldier of the same unite Albert Safaryan, committed suicide shooting himself in the lower jaw with his weapon and caused fatal damage.
A criminla case under the requirements of Article 110, Part 1 of the RA Criminal Code (Causing somebody to commit suicide) was initiated. The preliminary investigation is in process. All necessary measures to ensure comprehensive investigation of the case are being taken.
Note: The suspect or the accused of the alleged offence is deemed innocent unless his or her innocence is proved by virtue of the effective court verdict in the manner prescribed by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia.
