Azerbaijan confirms its intention to guarantee the rights and freedoms of the local Armenian residents of the Karabakh region in accordance with the Constitution of Azerbaijan and international human rights mechanisms, including the mechanisms intended for persons belonging to national minorities. Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said in his speech at the UN Security Council session.

He noted that ethnic Armenians are invited to be part of their model of peaceful coexistence.

“At the same time, Azerbaijan reminds that all states, according to international law, are obliged not to interfere in the internal affairs of other states, not to harm efforts to integrate people belonging to national minorities, and not to incite separatism in the territory of neighboring states.

Azerbaijan is open to constructive contacts with all international partners who are sincerely interested in peace, stability and prosperity in the region.”
