Spokesperson of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Nasser Kanaani, responded to the armed attack on the Azerbaijani Embassy in Iran. Expressing sympathy on the death of one person he noted that the Iranian authorities have started a serious investigation regarding this matter The Iranian IRNA agency writes.
He said that “Based on political and security authorities’ order the case was being investigated with high priority and sensitivity to determine the dimensions of this action and the motivation of the armed attacker.”
He said that the preliminary investigation showed that the motive of the attacker was personal, adding that the investigation of the case will continue and the results will be provided to the media.
Note that on 27 January, there was an armed attack on the Embassy of Azerbaijan in Iran, as a result of which one person died and two others were injured.
