The command of the NATO contingent in Kosovo rejected the request of the Serbian authorities to bring the police and the army into the region, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić told TV Pink.
“In their carefully composed letter addressed to the Government of Serbia, which I also received, they replied that they believe that there is no need for the return of the Serbian Army to the territory of the Republic of Kosovo, while referring to Resolution 1244. But they did not refer to part of the Resolution, since they have no right to refuse that request. They invoked the normative norm to preserve law and orde,” he said.
According to the President, this was the answer he expected and predicted. Vučić also noted that it coincided with Orthodox Christmas and the incident in the south of the region, when an Albanian injured 2 young Serbs.
It should be noted that another phase of tension in Kosovo and Metohija began at the beginning of December, when former Serbian police officer Dejan Pantic and several of his colleagues were arrested on suspicion of war crimes and terrorism during the 1998-1999 conflict.
