On December 22, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation S.V. Lavrov held a telephone conversation with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan D.A. Bayramov., the Russian Foreign Ministry reports.
The situation in the area of responsibility of the Russian peacekeeping contingent, which has worsened due to the blocking of the Lachin corridor and disagreements between the parties on the development of ore deposits in the region, has been discussed. S. V. Lavrov emphasized the need for strict observance of tripartite agreements on ensuring unimpeded communication between Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenia along the Lachin corridor.
Regret was expressed with regard to Yerevan’s decision to refuse to participate in the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Azerbaijan and Armenia scheduled for 23 December in Moscow to discuss issues of preparing the peace treaty.
The importance of continuing the implementation of the trilateral Statemnts of the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan of 9 November, 2020, and 11 January and 26 November, 2021, as well as 31 October, 2022 was emphasized.
