The UN Security Council is discussing the situation in the Lachin Corridor.

The representative of the Russian Federation also delivered a speech.

“We are concerned about the blocking of the Lachin corridor. According to the statement of 9 November, 2020, the Lachin Corridor is under the control of the Russian peacekeeping force. It is important to note that when the statement was signed, the parties undertook commitments that must be strictly followed, guaranteeing that no problems or difficulties are presented to the civilian population.

We expect that transport communication should be restored in the near future. The Russian side, through its Ministry of Defense, has taken all necessary efforts for the fastest possible resolution in the Lachin Corridor. We have organized regular contacts with our Azerbaijani and Armenian partners. As a result of these negotiations, we managed to restore the gas supply. We expect that all terms of the ceasefire will be observed.

We call on Armenia and Azerbaijan to show restraint and adhere to the agreements that are stipulated in the trilateral statement declaration. We are sure that this is the only way to fully implement the agreements, to normalize relations between Baku and Yerevan. We intend to continue providing all necessary assistance to Baku and Yerevan.

We continue to work with Armenia and Azerbaijan, preparing the Peace Agreement. In our opinion, all controversial issues between Armenia and Azerbaijan should be exclusively resolved by political and diplomatic means,” the Russia’s representative said.
