The Ministry of Defense of Russia advised the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan not to question the activities of peacekeepers

The representatives of the Russian peacekeeping contingent (RPC) responded to the statement of the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan regarding the outrage over the name Magavuz used in the information summary of the peacekeepers.

“The armed forces of the Russian Federation and the Russian peacekeeping contingent in Nagorno-Karabakh, when performing training and combat missions, use the topographical maps approved by the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces.

Baku’s criticism of the name of the Magavuz settlement is surprising, as other non-Azerbaijani place names have been used earlier and repeatedly in the bulletins of the Russian Defense Ministry. However, it did not lead to demands on the information platform. Moreover, when coordinating the route of the convoys and organizing cooperation with the Russian peacekeepers, the Azerbaijani side also uses these place names.

The activity of the Russian peacekeeping force is regulated by the Trilateral Statement of the Presidents of Azerbaijan, and Russia and the Pr4ime Minister of Armenia on 10 November, 2020 and is aimed at monitoring the maintenance of the ceasefire regime and has been highly praised by Azerbaijani officials for their effectiveness many times during various meetings.

Ceasefire violations published in official bulletins of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation are recorded at peacekeeping observation posts using objective surveillance techniques that allow observation at any time of the day.

It would not be bad if the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan did not question the activities of the Russian peacekeeping contingent in Nagorno-Karabakh on such minor occasions, but continued the work in close cooperation with it, including on the ground, to maintain peace in the region,” the statement said.
