President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin made an amendment to the draft law “On Citizenship” passed in the first reading, regarding the deprivation of acquired citizenship, “TASS” reports.
Thus, citizenship will also be revoked for committing the following “crimes””
- Discrediting the armed forces of the Russian Federation,
- Calls to violate Russia’s territorial integrity,
- Participation in the activities of undesirable public organizations.
At the end of December 2021, Putin submitted to the State Duma the draft of the basic law “On Citizenship of the Russian Federation”. The document, in particular, envisages a reduction in the number of requirements for receiving Russian citizenship for more than 20 categories of persons.
At the same time, the draft expands the list of crimes, the committing of which implies the deprivation of citizenship of previously accepted persons.
