In Russia, specialists have discovered two new genotypes of the “omicron” strain of coronavirus for the country in Russia. Anna Popova, the head of “Rospotrebnadzor”, informed about on 26 October.

“BA.4 and BA.5 genotypes are the main share of the circulation. But last week we discovered two new genotypes for the Russian Federation: BQ.1 and BQ.1.1. One of them was brought to the Russian Federation from abroad,” Popova said.

Along with that, according to her, the epidemiological situation of the coronavirus infection in Russia is manageable as of today; the incidence is decreasing for the fifth week in a row.

“The epidemiological situation of the new coronavirus infection is currently manageable; I can say that it is stabilizing. We are seeing a decrease for the fifth week in a row,” she said.

A sharp increase in covid morbidity is not expected in Russia and there are no plans to introduce restrictions, Popova said, TASS reported.
