Norbert Koster, who works as a Judge at the Higher Regional Court in Hamm for already 25 years had not heard about any corruption case in the system of Justice in Germany. He said this at the Summer School on European Law in his reply to the question of one of the participants.
According to the journalist of Iravaban.net, Mr. Norbert Koster remembered a story about a prosecutor which he heard during his practice. The prosecutor did not take a bribe, he simply had organized a donation for organization of a tennis competition and was fired from his post just for that.
The judge remembered another interesting incident with an advocate as well. This advocate took the materials of the case to the judge’s office after he had got acquainted with them. Just a few minutes after the advocate left the judge’s office the judge found a 1000 Deutsche Mark Banknote in the materials of the case. He took the banknote and went out to finde the advocate. The advocate apologized to the judge saying that he had a habit to use the 1000 Deutsche Mark Banknote as a bookmark.
“We work under really good conditions in Germany, and are really happy with this fact. For example if I take 250 Euros from someone for a decision I shall lose my power. This is inadmissible for us,” Judge at the Higher Regional Court in Hamm said and added that there was never any pressure upon them by the state bodies as well.
