US Congress finally approves $13.6 billion in aid to Ukraine

The US Senate approved the allocation of $13.6 billion in aid to Ukraine. Ukrainskaya Pravda reported.

About half of this amount is directed to arming and equipping Ukraine, as well as to the Pentagon’s expenses for sending American troops to other Eastern European countries. The remaining amounts include humanitarian and economic assistance, strengthening the defense of allies in the region and protecting their energy resources and cyber security needs.

The document has now been sent to US President Joe Biden for signature. Earlier, he said he was ready to sign the bill.

It should be reminded that early in the morning of 24 February, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced the launch of a special military operation in Ukraine, aimed at ensuring the security of the Donetsk and Luhansk republics, as well as removing the “Nazi regime” in Ukraine.

The United States and the European Union have described Russia’s move as a direct aggression by Russia against Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.

The Verkhovna Rada has declared martial law in Ukraine.
