The Ukrainian side is obstructing the safe exit of Mariupol civilians from the city. Eduard Basurin, Deputy Head of the Donetsk People’s Militia Department told TASS reporter on Friday.
“We said yesterday that the humanitarian corridor is open, we are waiting for people to leave. After the negotiations between the Ukrainian authorities and the Russian Federation, we hoped that civilians would be allowed to cross the Mariupol corridor. But so far no one has left because of an obstacle from Ukraine. We guarantee that no one will shoot at us in this place. We guarantee that the area has been cleared of mines. People can get out of there safely,” he explained.
On Thursday, the leader of the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) Denis Pushilin announced that for all civilians in Mariupol who wish to temporarily go to a safe place, the armed forces of the Russian եց Donetsk People’s Republic will organize a humanitarian corridor.
