Chinese President Xi Jinping had a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin.  China Central Television reported on Friday.

Jinping had a telephone conversation with Putin in the afternoon on 25 February.

China has called on to move away from the Cold War mentality in the issue of the Ukraine, as well as to establish a stable and effective mechanism for ensuring European security.

“It is necessary to abandon the Cold War mentality, to take into account the legitimate security concerns of the countries, to establish a balanced, effective and stable mechanism through negotiations,” China Central Television quoted him as saying.

The Chinese Government is in favor of settling the differences between Russia and Ukraine through negotiations.

“The Chinese side supports the settlement through negotiations between Russia and Ukraine,” he said.

Xi Jinping and Putin exchanged views on the situation in Ukraine.

Putin presented to Xi Jinping the history of the Ukrainian problem, the details of a special military operation in eastern Ukraine.
