The State Revenue Committee informs that the customs control over the items imported to Armenia by post and courier service is initially carried out through inspection devices. However, there are cases when the items ordered by the citizens need to be opened and additionally inspected. For example, when the customs authorities suspect that the contents or value of the item do not correspond to the declared one. In this case, the customs authority may open the item only in the presence of a citizen or a representative of his authorized transport company.

Therefore, in cases where the carrier informs that the goods are in the customs authorities, the citizen may issue a power of attorney to the postal courier company, so that the organization’s representative participates in the inspection of the goods instead of the citizen. Thus, there will be no need to visit customs bodies.

It should be noted that a number of transport companies provide the above-mentioned services through a power of attorney.
