The European Union has officially announced the prolonging of sanctions against Russia.
RIA Novosti reported.
“The Council today decided to prolong the restrictive measures currently targeting specific sectors of the Russian economy until 31 July 2021,” the EU said in a statement.
At a summit in Brussels in late 2021, EU leaders called on Moscow to start implementing the Minsk agreements.
The sanctions are targeted at the financial, energy and defense sectors of the Russian economy.
There is also a ban on the import and export of weapons and dual-use goods.
It should be noted that the EU imposed economic restrictions on 31 July, 2014 for a period of one year. In March 2015, that term was connected with “full implementation of the Minsk agreements.”
