The verdict in the case of the attempted murder against the former MP, businessman Melik Manukyan (“Shshi Melo”) has been publicized.
Iravaban.net was informed from the staff of Judge Gor Shahbazyan of the Court of General Jurisdiction of Kotayk Region today, on 10 January.
According to the verdict, one of the defendants, Jemsik Martirosyan, was found guilty under Article 112 of the Criminal Code (intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm) and sentenced to 4 years and 6 months in prison.
It should be noted that the defendants in the criminal case, Arthur Mkhitaryan, Jemsik Martirosyan, and Petros Elbakyan, were also charged under Article 34-104, Part 2, Clauses 1, 6, 7, and 8 of the RA Criminal Code (attempted murder; committed in a way dangerous for the life of many people; by a group of people or by an organized group; out of mercenary motives and combined with extortion and banditry), Article 185, Part 2, Clauses 1 and 2 of the RA Criminal Code (Deliberate destruction or damage to property caused by arson, explosion or other dangerous means, causing large-scale damage); Article 235 Part 2 of the RA Criminal Code (Illegal procurement, transportation or carrying of weapons, ammunition, explosives or explosive devices, which were committed by a group with prior agreement) and were justified.
It should be reminded that an explosive device had been previously placed under the bridge located on the 15th km section of the Yerevan-Sevan highway, which was blown up on 2 August 2019, at around 12:30 pm, up when M. Manukyan’s “Range Rover” and “Nissan Patrol” cars accompanying him were moving on that section.
