By the decision of the Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan, Mamikon Aslanyan, the candidate for Mayor of Vanadzor of the “Mamikon Aslanyan” Alliance of parties, was arrested.

Earlier, the Investigative Committee informed that

As a result of other comprehensive investigative and judicial actions uninitiated on 14 September 2021 and carried out in the Central Investigation Department of the RA Investigation Committee, a relevant apparent data were obtained that M.A., who held the position of Vanadzor community head of the RA Lori region from 10 October, 2016 to 10, October 2021, had abused and exceeded his official powers, committing official fraud with other personal motives, committing publicly dangerous acts.

Notably, on 15 December, Aslanyan issued a statement stating:

“Dear compatriots,

We inform that Mamikon Aslanyan was arrested exclusively for disrupting the election process of the community head.

He stated that his will is unbreakable, the case is fair.

Stay strong, dear people of Vanadzor.”
