On the tenth day of the hunger strike, Mikheil Saakashvili’s condition worsened, “Georgia Online” reports, referring to his personal doctor Nikoloz Kipshidze, who visited him in prison today.
According to the doctor, Saakashvili also refuses to accept honey and juice, the penitentiary institution informed. He currently uses only water.
According to Kipshidze, the third president of Georgia has a rare blood disease – thalassemia, in which case the hunger strike is strictly prohibited. The doctor informed about his diagnosis with Saakashvili’s consent.
Mikheil Saakashvili was detained on 1 October when he turned on his Ukrainian phone, which was being tapped by Georgian special services. He downloaded his latest video message from that phone, in which he says that he will be arrested soon, and called on his supporters to fight against the Ivanishvili’s regime.
