Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has said that his country is ready to cooperate with the radical Taliban movement in Afghanistan.
“We are ready for all kinds of cooperation to maintain peace for the Afghan people, to ensure the well-being of Turkish citizens living in the country, and to protect the interests of our state,” Anadolu quoted the Turkish president.
The Taliban entered Kabul without a fight on 15 August and took full control of the Afghan capital within hours. Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has said he will resign to prevent bloodshed and left the country. Western countries are evacuating their citizens and embassy staff.
