Servicemen received gunshot wounds as a result of the skirmish with the enemy
The Investigative Committee informed.
On 23 July, 2021 at around 5:00 pm, while on duty at a military base under the protection of the N military unit of the RA Ministry of Defense located in the administrative territory of Kut community, Gegharkunik region, conscript Arman Gurgeni Atasyan, contract servicemen Lernik Henrik Navoyan and Yurik Ashot Ohanyan received gunshot wounds.
They were taken to Gegharkunik garrison hospital, where A. Atasyan’s condition was assessed as extremely serious.
A criminal case under Article 34-104, Part 2, Items 1, 2, 7 and 13 of the RA Criminal Code has been initiated in the Fifth Garrison Investigation Division of the Military Investigation Department of the RA Investigative Committee.
The preliminary investigation of the criminal case is underway.
It should be reminded that on23 July, at around 17:00, the Azerbaijani Armed Forces opened fire on the Armenian positions located in the Gegharkunik section of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border.

It was preceded by shootings in their own Azerbaijani military bases, which may be due to an interpersonal incident between the Azerbaijani military. The fact that the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan mentions in its message that an Azerbaijani soldier was killed after the fire opened by the Armenian side also speaks about it. The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia states that it did not take counter-action until the moment when the Azerbaijani Armed Forces opened fire on the Armenian positions.
As a result of the intense shooting due to provocation launched by the Azerbaijani side, 3 servicemen of the RA Armed Forces received light gunshot wounds. Their lives are not in danger.
The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia strongly condemns the next provocation of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces. The entire responsibility for the aggravation of the situation falls on the military-political leadership of Azerbaijan.
