The delegation headed by Arman Tatoyan left for Syunik region to familiarize with the situation

The delegation headed by the RA Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan left for Syunik region of the Republic of Armenia to get acquainted with the situation with the borders on the spot, to carry out fact-finding work and to protect the rights of border residents. The Facebook page of the RA Human Rights Defender informs.

“The Human Rights Defender of Armenia, states for the information of international organizations, that the illegal advance of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces into the territory of the Republic of Armenia, in particular, the territory of the Sev Lich (Black lake) and the part from that territory to civilian settlements, grossly violates the rights of the border residents.

The presence of the Azerbaijani military grossly violates international human rights requirements, deprives Armenian citizens of the only source of income for their families to engage in livestock, use pastures, and pose a real threat to communities’ access to irrigation and drinking water, their lives and safety.

The mentioned illegal act of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces proves once again the absolute necessity of the Human Rights Defender’s proposal to create a security zone, which will guarantee the rights and peaceful life, physical and mental inviolability of the border residents of the Republic of Armenia.

“During the Defender’s visit to Syunik region, fact-finding activities will be carried out on the spot on a special principle, steps will be taken to protect the rights of the RA border residents,” the statement reads.
