On 18 February, 2021, the European Court of Human Rights issued a judgment in Samadov v. Armenia case (application no. 36606/08).
The RA representation in the ECHR reported.
In the present case, the applicant allegedly owned property in the Kelbajar area, which he left in 1993.
The latter filed a complaint with the European Court in 2008, that is, more than 6 years after the ratification of the European Convention on Human Rights by Armenia. Moreover, it had been more than 15 years since the applicant had been forcibly evicted from the house which allegedly was his property.
In such circumstances, the European Court, even taking into account the applicant’s refugee status, considered it too late to lodge a complaint six years after the ratification of the Convention.
The European Court declared the complaint inadmissible.
