RA Prosecutor General Artur Davtyan met with RF Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov

The Public Relations Department of the Prosecutor’s Office reported in the issued press release.

The Prosecutors General of the Republic of Armenia and the Russian Federation expressed mutual satisfaction with the high level of cooperation between the structures headed by them, and expressed readiness to deepen them in accordance with the spirit of strategic alliance and friendship between the two countries.

It was noted that the current legal framework creates the necessary conditions to protect the rights of their citizens in each other’s countries, to increase the effectiveness of the joint fight against international crime.

The Prosecutors General discussed a wide range of issues of mutual legal assistance, and cooperation in the field of extradition, as well as issues of mutual interest. During the discussion, Artur Davtyan noted the possibility of illegal searches of former RA and Artsakh Republic officials initiated by the competent bodies of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the CIS territory on the basis of unfounded criminal prosecutions.

Reference was made to the activities of the employees of the RF Prosecutor’s Office performing official duties in Artsakh within the framework of the RF peacekeeping mission in the Artsakh Republic, the structures of their cooperation with the RA and Artsakh republic Prosecution Offices and law enforcement bodies. The RA Prosecutor General stressed that the Artsakh Defense Army continues its functions of ensuring the security of the Artsakh Armenians, but the deployment of the Russian peacekeeping forces has significantly increased the security guarantees, created grounds for strengthening stability on the line of contact.

As a result of the meeting, Artur  Davtyan and Igor Krasnov signed the 2021-2022 agreement program between the RA և RF Prosecutor’s Offices. The program of cooperation, which envisages joint work on the exchange of experience in a number of areas of prosecutorial control.

Igor Krasnov was awarded a diploma by the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation for his significant contribution to strengthening the rule of law and international cooperation.
