According to TASS, the commander of the Russian peacekeeping contingent, Lieutenant General Rustam Muradov, said that another exchange of prisoners between Azerbaijan and Armenia took place today, as a result of which four Armenian prisoners returned to their homeland and two Azeris returned to their homeland.
“Today, in order to implement the trilateral statement of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia of 9 November, 2020, another exchange of prisoners was carried out. As a result of the work carried out by the Russian peacekeepers under my personal control, a Russian Aerospace Forces aircraft delivered to Baku two Azerbaijanis held captive and returned four prisoners to Erebuni,” – Muradov said.
He stressed that “Russian peacekeepers will continue to contribute to the implementation of the trilateral agreement.”
It should be reminded that today the Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Tigran Avinyan announced the return of four Armenian prisoners to their homeland with the mediation of Russia and the International Committee of the Red Cross.
On 15 December, 44 prisoners returned to Armenia from Azerbaijan through the mediation of the Russian Federation. On the same day, 12 captured Azerbaijanis returned to Azerbaijan.
