Human Rights Defender of the Artsakh Republic, Artak Beglaryan wrote on his Facebook page:

“Today, the three captives transferred from Azerbaijan to Armenia through the mediation of Russian peacekeepers are elderly civilians who remained in their settlements during the Azerbaijani invasion.

They were handed over to the Armenian side on a priority basis due to serious health problems.
Together with them, the body of another elderly man who died in captivity in Azerbaijan in circumstances still unknown to us was handed over to the Armenian side.

The relatives of the mentioned persons have already been duly informed about their return.

We are coordinating with the RA Human Rights Defender Arman Tatoyan our work on the protection of human rights, within the framework of which we will take appropriate actions to find out the circumstances related to the rights of the returned persons.

We continue our joint efforts to collect and analyze data on captives and missing persons, to assist the state authorities as much as possible, as well as to raise related issues in various international organizations.”
