The provision of a large number of different types of weapons and ammunition to take part in the military operations for the protection of the war unleashed against the Artsakh Republic has created serious dangers for their illegal circulation after the end of the hostilities. The latter is evidenced by the numerous cases of illegal transfer of weapons and ammunition from Artsakh to Armenia, the dozens of criminal cases initiated with their use.

The events taking place in the Republic of Armenia after the end of hostilities, the crimes related to them, in public speeches, including the statements made at the rally in Liberty Square on 5 December, 2020, spiced with positions on the inevitability or permissibility of certain actions, create criminal use of weapons, and due to that, threats to the protection of life and health of citizens, including those participating in mass rallies, threatening public order.

Based on the above, the RA Prosecutor General Artur Davtyan addressed letters to the Director of the RA National Security Service, the Chief of the RA Police, to immediately take necessary operative-investigative measures to prevent the illegal turnover of weapon , as well as to prevent and detect possible crimes combined with violence, and to intensify the work carried out in that direction.

At the same time, we once again call on the citizens of the Republic of Armenia to refrain from initiation or engaging in any of the above-mentioned possible criminal acts, acts of violence or incitement to violence. Otherwise, all those who commit criminal acts will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
