Economist Suren Sahakyan, Secretary of the Executive Body of the “Citizen’s Decision” Social-Democratic Party, writes on his Facebook page.
“Even in the worst dream, it was impossible to imagine this degree of dissent in the society. On the one hand, it can be explained by the degree of defeat and tragedy, but it is in no way in the interest of the people. Lack of faith in our strengths, lack of trust in each other will prevent us from developing for a long time. It is impossible to face the challenges we face in this situation. Defeat, disappointment, and humiliation in World War I gave birth to Hitler in Germany. On a small scale, I see the same situation here. We harm ourselves. I still do not imagine the point of solidarity of all of us. But it is necessary.
Many will read this post, expecting which of the big and small “political” poles we say ‘yes’ to and which ‘no’. What I have written is beyond that. They and we are all transient. We must think about the future. What Armenia will we leave to our children? We need mutual respect and dialogue, inclusiveness, not exclusion. The pain, the disappointment is for all of us and it is very difficult to endure it individually. We will overcome easily together.”
