Today, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan gave an interview to the British BBC news service.
In the course of the interview, the Armenian Prime Minister called on the international community to condemn the aggression of Turkey and Azerbaijan against Artsakh and Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan noted that it has been 3 days since the Azerbaijani armed forces targeted the civilians of Artsakh, and today the Turkish forces have joined the aggression against the civilian population of Armenia.
“A few days ago, the Azerbaijani armed forces launched a large-scale military operation along the entire line of contact with Nagorno Karabakh. We describe them as pre-planned aggression against the people of Nagorno Karabakh. The Azerbaijani Armed Forces have targeted the towns and villages of Nagorno-Karabakh, the civilian population and infrastructure. The same thing happened today to the villages in the territory of the Republic of Armenia: the Azerbaijani Armed Forces continued their offensive operations. It is very important to note that Turkish military instructors – officers stationed in Azerbaijan – are directly involved in hostilities, as a result of which dozens of people were killed and hundreds were wounded,” said Prime Minister Pashinyan.
Prime Minister Pashinyan stated that Turkish F-16 fighter jets are also attacking Armenia and Artsakh. “Turkish F-16 fighter jets are currently flying over Nagorno-Karabakh, fully involved in hostilities. Turkey does not keep it a secret, only two countries have said they are going to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict by military means, the first being Azerbaijan and the second being Turkey. Nagorno Karabakh and Armenia are facing an existential threat,” the Armenian Prime Minister said.
Referring to the accusations from Azerbaijan that the Armenian side was the first to start hostilities, Nikol Pashinyan noted that each accusation should be based on concrete facts. “Becoming the Prime Minister of Armenia, I have mentioned a concrete formula for the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. That resolution is that every solution must be acceptable to the people of Armenia, the people of Artsakh and the people of Azerbaijan. I am the first Armenian leader involved in the negotiation process to make such a statement,” he said.
The Prime Minister of Armenia stressed that the people of Artsakh have the right to free self-determination, and the whole international community should force Turkey to withdraw from this conflict, as its involvement in this conflict worsens the situation.
