The Sentence of Acquittal on “Mataghis” Case remained Unchanged

Today the Criminal Appeal Court of the RA denied the claims of the Central Military Prosecution Office of the RA and Gohar Melkonyan, the successor of the victim Roman Yeghiazaryan and upheld the sentence of acquittal of the Court of General Jurisdiction of Shirak marz.

Gohar Melkonyan, the successor of the victim Roman Yeghiazaryan, claimed to review the decision of the Court of General Jurisdiction of Shirak marz and to take a right verdict. The Central Military Prosecution Office of the RA requests to reconsider the case totally and to take a verdict of guilty and sentence Razmik Sargsyan to 7 years, Arayik Zalyan to 8 years and Musa Serobyan to 8 years of imprisonment.

Razmik Sargsyan, Arayik Zalyan and Musa Serobyan are accused for the murder of Roman Yegiazaryan and Hovsep Mkrtumyan, during their military service in Mataghis military regiment in 2003.

Only after the 9 years of consistent struggle the Court of General Jurisdiction of Shirak marz held the sentence of acquittal on 18 December 2012.
