Greece has condemned the human losses and said it was ready to support efforts to ease tensions in Nagorno-Karabakh. The Greek Foreign Ministry announced this on its Twitter page after the telephone conversation between the Foreign Ministers of Greece and Armenia Nikos Dendias and Zohrab Mnatsakanyan on Sunday evening.
During the telephone conversation with Mnatsakanyan, the strong ties of friendship between Greece and Armenia were confirmed. Dendias condemned the human losses and said that Greece was ready to facilitate immediate de-escalation in Nagorno-Karabakh, the statement said.
An earlier statement from the Greek Foreign Ministry said, ” Greece is particularly concerned about the escalation of tensions in the Nagorno-Karabakh region and calls on “all parties to show restraint, cease hostilities immediately and return to the negotiating table within the [OSCE] Minsk Group.” According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, “peaceful settlement of disputes in accordance with international law is the only way to regional security and stability.”
