The preliminary investigation of the criminal case initiated on the case of degrading Judge Anna Danibekyan’s honor and dignity and thus trying to hinder implementation of justice and investigation has been completed in the Investigative Department of Shengavit of the RA IC YCID of the RA.

Investigative Committee reports this.

As a result of pre-trial investigative actions, a number of circumstances of the case were revealed.

In particular, a young man born in 1993 with a friend, born in 1991, attempted to influence the judge’s subsequent decision in a specific criminal case by planned actions to degrade the honor and dignity of Judge of Shengavit residence of the Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan A. Danibekyan.

According to the investigation, the young people, having been informed in advance about Judge A. Danibekyan’s presence in the RA Justice Academy and attending trainings, went to the RA Justice Academy on 27 September, 2019 at 4:50 pm and waited in the yard to meet the judge after the training, to videotape the meeting and distribute it live as an article “Let’s try to help Themis”, but A. Danibekyan avoided latter and left from the back door of the academy.

Later, on the same day, at about 8:30 pm, continuing their intention, again pursued Judge Danibekyan in the Pantheon adjacent to Komitas Park, they again harassed Judge A. Danibekyan and humiliated her honor and dignity by asking questions about the criminal case on Robert Kocharyan and others which is investigated in the Court of General Jurisdiction of Yerevan, and insulted her.

Combined with sufficient evidence obtained during the pre-trial proceedings, the two young men were charged under Article 332 (1) of the RA Criminal Code. Arrest was chosen as a measure of restraint against them.

The conclusion of the preliminary investigation was announced and the criminal case with an indictment was sent to the court.

Note: A person that is suspected or accused of an alleged crime is considered innocent until his/her guilt is proved by a court judgment that has come into legal effect pursuant to the procedure determined by RA Criminal Procedure Code
