How many Mandates will each Power receive as a result of Elections to Council of Elderly of Yerevan

According to preliminary data of the elections to Council of Elderly of Yerevan, the Political parties received the following votes:
• Republican Party of Armenia are 71.25 % or 240 036 votes;
• “Yelk” Alliance has 21 % or 70.731 votes;
• “Land of Apricot” Party has 7.75 % or 26109 votes.

Representatives of these three parties will be in the composition of the Council of Elderly of Yerevan.

In the interview with us, Miss Armine Chakhalyan, lawyer of Armenian Lawyers’ Association said that pursuant to the RA Electoral Code 65 mandates of the Council of Elderly of Yerevan will be distributed in the following way: “the number of mandates available for each electoral list shall be calculated as follows: the number of ballot papers with affirmative vote cast in favour of each electoral list shall be multiplied by the number of ballot papers with affirmative vote cast in favour of each electoral lists participating in the distribution of mandates, and the integer numbers shall be parted which shall be the number of mandates available for each electoral list of each political party (alliance of political parties).”

Thus, RPA will receive 45 mandates, “Yelk” Alliance – 14 and “Country of Apricot” – 5.
