The US legal sector perked up last month with the addition of 1,000 jobs across the country, according to government figures released last week, reports Global Legal Post.
The data from the US Bureau of Labour Statistics also shows that 5,900 more people are employed in the legal sector now than at the same time last year, reports the Am Law Daily.
Since the beginning of the year, the industry has seen as a net gain of 2,900 jobs – an impressive figure considering the bureau reported the loss of 1,400 jobs in August.
As the US unemployment rate dropped to 7.8 per cent – the lowest level since President Obama took office – the report concluded that 1.12 million people are now employed in the legal sector. That figure had not been reached – with the exception of July 2012 – since July 2009.
