RA Special Investigation Service informs that it was grounded with factual data obtained on the preliminary investigation of a criminal case concerning abuse of official power coupled with assault by the official carrying out a special state service in operative governing center of RA Traffic Police that the officer of the mentioned division of police, mayor of police Artavazd Harutyunyan, through abusing his official position, launched assault against the citizen Sasun Tadevosyan.
In particular, as a result of a set of investigative and judicial activities performed on the criminal case it was grounded that on 20 March 2016 to postpone the transfer of goods from the cabin of a car pun a ban in a special preserving area of RA traffic police, a quarrel was ignited between the driver Sasun Tadevosyan and the police officer which continued in operative governing building of police. During that, in the absence of conditions envisaged by the law to take special measures, as well as under the evident violation of those activities, Artavazd Harutyunyan, the official carrying out a special state service in operative governing center of RA Traffic Police that the officer of the mentioned division of police, mayor of police, used a cudgel being a special police measure and through that stroke blows on S. Tadevosyan’s body causing bodily injuries.
A charge was brought against Artavazd Harutyunyan, the official carrying out a special state service in operative governing center of RA Traffic Police under part 2 of Article 309 of RA Criminal Code.
The preliminary investigation of the foregoing criminal case is over. The case coupled with the indictment was passed to the prosecutor conducting judicial control to confirm and send it to court.
