Preliminary Investigation of the Case on the Fact of False Denunciation completed

Samvel Hayrapetyan, participant in a criminal trial, was warned that he will be held criminally liable if he provides false information in the particularly important case of S. Avdoyan; nonetheless, he was found to have provided false evidence, per the preliminary investigation conducted by the Special Investigation Service.

In particular, Samvel Hayrapetyan, witness in the criminal case investigated by the Court of First Instance of the Armavir region that investigator Avdoyan of the Department of the Investigative Committee of the Armavir Marz had calling him in for questioning on March 16, 2015 regarding the particularly important case. He was asked about Norik P’s activities and stated he had no information on that matter. The investigator recorded the testimony and handed it to the witness who read and signed the testimony. The witness then later stated he had never signed the testimony. He later alleged that the investigator inserted his own thoughts into the testimony and signed the first two pages himself.

Based on the report provided by the investigator of the RA Special Investigation Service, a criminal case was opened.

Per the proper procedure, several investigations have gone underway regarding the investigators handwriting.

The forensic handwriting experts concluded that the signatures of the first and second page were done by Mr. Hayrapetyan.

In conclusion, Mr. Hayrapetyan, knowing that he provided false information to the investigator for this important case falsified evidence.

Mr. Hayrapetyan was charged under the RA Criminal Code Article 333, Part 1 for providing false testimony.

The Special Investigation Service completed their preliminary investigation and transferred the case to the prosecutor and the court.
