A few minutes before the Court of General Jurisdiction of Kentron and Nork Marash Administrative District of Yerevan announced the verdict on Hayk Kyureghyan’s Case. Hayk Kyureghyan, who was brought to the courtroom, did not stand up during the announcement of the verdict. The Court presided by Judge Armen Bektashyan warned the defendant that in case if he continues sitting the court will remove him from the courtroom. Kyureghyan did not stand up and the court applied sanction removing him from the courtroom.
Then the court announced the verdict. Punishment of 7 years imprisonment was decided under Article 316 (2) and punishment of 5 years imprisonment was decided under Article 258 (4) of the RA Criminal Code for Hayk Kyureghyan. Cumulative 9 years of imprisonment was decided for Hayk Kyureghyan.
The verdict also satisfied the civil lawsuit of the victim Kristina Sardaryan. Hayk Kyuregyan shall pay her 284.000 AMD as compensation for the caused damage.
The gas gun, which Hayk Kyuregyan used during his protest action, will be confiscated in favor of the state.
The verdict can be appealed in court within one month.
