Young members of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation – Dashnaktsutyun are now holding a demonstration near the Kentron Police Department. Shortly before they and their friends, who were taking part in the protest against rising electricity prices, were put under administrative detention.
Iravaban.net’s journalist reports that according to official data six activists were put under administrative detention and according to the youth of ARFD one of them is a young girl.
Right from the place of the demonstration the correspondent of iravaban.net reports that according to formal facts six activists were put under administrative detention and according to the youth of ARFD one of them is a young girl. The crowd gathered near the police department demands the detained activists to be set free immediately.
It should be pointed that today, a demonstration was held near the building of the Public Services Regulatory Commission. During the demonstration a clash between the police and activists occurred: they threw eggs as a sign of protest, and after this some activists were detained.
In the interview with Iravaban.net, one of the organizers of the demonstration, ARFD young member Mesrop Yesayan mentioned that they had no intention to clash with the police, moreover they were convincing the police to join the demonstration, as long as the rise of electricity prices will affect their social status also: “We emphasized not to disturb us, but the police concentrated big forces, arrested tiny boys and girls and took them to the Kentron police department”- Mesrop Yesayan said.
It must be noted that the detained activists have already been released.
